Privacy Policy
Last updated: [DATE] · [LEGAL ENTITY NAME]
Silver Surfer Safeguard (“the Service”) is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. Contact us at privacy@silversurfersafeguard.com.
Who this covers
- Dependents — family members who set up and monitor protection.
- Protected users — people whose devices run the Service and whose viewed content is analyzed for scams.
What we collect
- Account data: dependent email, protected user's display name, the family link, and device records.
- Content analyzed for scams: text from emails, messages, and web pages the protected user opens while protection is on. We attempt to redact obvious identifiers before storage, but redaction is imperfect and some personal information may be stored.
- Occasional screenshots: when our detection is uncertain about a specific item, we capture and store a cropped image of only the flagged area (never the full screen) so we can review and improve accuracy. These images are stored privately; because they are pictures, automatic text redaction does not apply to them.
- Detection results: verdict, category, confidence, source URL, timestamps.
- Technical/usage data: device type, extension version, basic logs.
We do not intentionally collect passwords, full financial-account credentials, or any content while protection is paused or off.
How we use it
- To detect scams and warn the protected user in the moment.
- To alert linked dependents when something risky is found.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Service, including improving detection accuracy (done internally by us).
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or use it for creditworthiness or lending decisions.
Third parties who process data for us
We use [Supabase] (database, authentication, hosting), [Anthropic] (an AI model that analyzes whether content is a scam), and [Resend] (sending alert emails). These providers process data only to provide the Service and are not authorized to use it for their own purposes.
Consent
The protected user consents on their device before any monitoring begins, and the dependent attests they have permission to set up the Service. Monitoring does not occur until the protected user accepts.
Retention & security
We keep analyzed content and detection records for [RETENTION PERIOD] to provide alerts and improve detection, then delete or de-identify them. Data is encrypted in transit and access is restricted so a dependent sees only the people linked to them.
Your rights
The protected user or dependent may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their data, and may turn off or uninstall the Service at any time. Contact privacy@silversurfersafeguard.com. We honor applicable rights under [CCPA / other state laws].
Vulnerable users & children
The Service is for adults and is intended to protect older adults. It is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We will post changes here and update the date above; material changes will be surfaced in-app and may require renewed consent.
